La Trinité National Nature Reserve

La Trinité National Nature Reserve is a vast protected area in French Guiana, France, established in 1996 to preserve one of the largest remaining tracts of untouched tropical rainforest in the northern Amazon basin. Spanning approximately 760 square kilometres, it ranks as the third-largest terrestrial nature reserve in France, protecting a representative sample of the Guianan forest ecosystem on the Guianan Shield. The reserve occupies an isolated interior position in central French Guiana, encompassing the headwaters of the Mana and Sinnamary river basins. Its landscape is characterized by mountainous terrain with distinctive inselbergs, including Roche Bénitier rising to 450 metres and the Mont Tabulaire lateritic plateau reaching 635 metres as the reserve's highest point. The protection of this area was motivated by its remoteness from mining activity and the exceptional integrity of its primary forest, which shelters extraordinary biodiversity spanning dozens of mammal species, more than 300 bird species, and thousands of invertebrates.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
