Bashkiriya National Park

Bashkiriya National Park is a protected area in the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia, situated on the southwestern slopes of the Southern Urals, west of the Uraltau watershed ridge. The park covers roughly 920 square kilometers of largely forested terrain and straddles three administrative districts, with the town of Meleuz serving as the nearest settlement of any size. The park's landscape combines broadleaf and mixed forests with river valleys, karst formations, and cave systems along tributaries of the Belaya River, including the Nugush River and the Nugush Reservoir. These features support a rich temperate fauna dominated by brown bears, wolves, lynx, elk, and roe deer, alongside a substantial bird community and several rare fish species in mountain streams. Established in 1986 as one of the early national parks of the Russian Federation, Bashkiriya serves both as a conservation area for Southern Ural ecosystems and as a regional destination for hiking, horseback riding, cave exploration, and nature-based tourism.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
