Marine Park Aruba

Marine Park Aruba is a system of marine protected areas encircling the island of Aruba in the southern Caribbean. Established in late 2018 and brought under formal management by the Aruba National Park Foundation (Fundacion Parke Nacional Aruba) in April 2019, the park comprises four separately designated marine reserves that together cover roughly 60 square kilometers of coastal and nearshore waters. The reserves protect some of the most biologically important marine environments on the island, including coral reef formations, seagrass meadows, and mangrove forests. They also serve as critical breeding and foraging habitat for sea turtles, seabirds, and sharks, making the park a central pillar of Aruba's marine conservation framework. Although the four designated zones represent only a small fraction of Aruba's territorial waters, they concentrate protection on the island's most ecologically valuable coastal ecosystems and complement the terrestrial protections of the adjacent Arikok National Park.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
