Putna-Vrancea Natural Park

Putna-Vrancea Natural Park is a protected landscape in the Vrancea Mountains of the Eastern Carpathians in Romania, covering approximately 30,000 hectares in the northwestern part of Vrancea County. The park encompasses the hydrographical basin of the Putna River and the Mordanu and Goru massifs, representing a complex mountainous terrain of crevasses, peaks, valleys, canyons, and waterfalls. Established in 2005 through Government Decision, the park serves as a Category V IUCN protected area and forms part of the European Natura 2000 network. It protects significant Carpathian biodiversity across multiple habitat types, from montane forests to alpine meadows, and encompasses several smaller nature reserves including the notable Putna Waterfall. The park is accessible via National Road DN2L and lies near the town of Târgu Secuiesc.
