Réserve naturelle régionale de la côte de la Fontaine

The Réserve naturelle régionale de la côte de la Fontaine is a small regional nature reserve in Normandy, northern France. It lies within the Seine-Maritime department, on the slopes overlooking a large bend of the Seine River near Hénouville, and sits inside the broader Parc naturel régional des Boucles de la Seine normande. The reserve protects about 12 hectares of southwest-facing chalk coteau, a kind of calcareous hillside slope, along with surrounding woodlands and scrub. Its open calcareous grasslands, characteristic of limestone slopes, host a rich community of rare plants and insects typical of this habitat, while the wooded edges provide shelter for a notable bird fauna. Despite its modest size, the site carries important regional conservation value because of the rarity and quality of these limestone slope habitats. Originally classified as a voluntary nature reserve in 1998, the site was reclassified as a regional nature reserve in 2015. The current protected status reflects both the biological richness of the coteau and its scenic position in one of the most distinctive river landscapes of the lower Seine valley.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
