Parque Nacional Tuni Condoriri

Parque Nacional Tuni Condoriri is one of Bolivia's older Andean protected areas, established in 1942 to safeguard the high-mountain landscapes of the Cordillera Real just north of La Paz. The park sits in the Murillo province of the La Paz department and encompasses elevations ranging roughly from 4,500 to 6,200 meters, producing a vertical mosaic of glacial peaks, alpine lakes, wetlands, and high-Andean grasslands. The park's most recognizable feature is the Condoriri massif, whose serrated ridges and ice flanks shelter notable summits such as Nevado Condoriri, Pequeño Alpamayo, Pico Austria, Ilusión, and Cabeza de Cóndor. Below these summits lie a chain of glacial lakes, including Tuni Condoriri, Chiar Khota, Incacatani, Eslovenia, and Ventanani, that feed into the endorheic Altiplano basin and supply water to the metropolitan area of La Paz and El Alto. In addition to its scenic and hydrological importance, the reserve supports high-Andean wildlife such as the Andean condor, the Andean deer, viscachas, foxes, hummingbirds, and waterbirds tied to the lagoons. It also serves as a destination for trekking, rock and ice climbing, and mountaineering, with camping spots scattered across the valleys and passes.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
