Gandang Dewata National Park is a protected area established in 2016 in the Mamasa Regency of West Sulawesi province, Indonesia. The park encompasses the dramatic Tanete Gandangdewata mountain range, whose twin peaks rise to over 3,000 meters and hold deep spiritual significance for the local Mamasa community. The name translates from the local Mamasa language and Sanskrit as 'the drum of God,' referring to the distinctive rounded silhouette of Tanete peak which resembles a giant stone drum when viewed from a distance. This relatively new national park, Indonesia's 53rd, was created to safeguard one of Sulawesi's most biodiverse regions, containing endemic bird species and pristine forest ecosystems that represent Wallacean biodiversity found nowhere else on Earth.
