Mudumu National Park

Mudumu National Park is a protected area in the Caprivi Region of north-eastern Namibia, established in 1990. The park covers approximately 737 square kilometres of flat savanna terrain and forms a crucial component of the Kavango-Zambezi Trans-Frontier Conservation Area, one of Africa's largest trans-boundary conservation initiatives spanning Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Kwando River delineates the western border with Botswana, and the park remains unfenced, allowing free wildlife movement across international boundaries. This landscape supports a complex ecosystem of mopane woodlands, riverine forests, and floodplain grasslands that provide habitat for significant populations of African elephant, buffalo, lion, and numerous other large mammal species. The area serves as an important migration corridor enabling large game species to move between Botswana and Angola, making it strategically vital for regional wildlife conservation.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
