Punta dell'Acquabella

Punta dell'Acquabella is a small Italian natural reserve on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo, set within the municipality of Ortona in the province of Chieti. It lies along the famous Costa dei Trabocchi, a stretch of shoreline historically defined by traditional fishing platforms suspended on wooden stilts above the sea. The reserve is built around a coastal promontory and its adjacent beach, covering roughly twenty-eight hectares of protected land. Its name refers to the notably clear water along the shore, and the area combines cliffs, pebble and sand beaches, Mediterranean vegetation, and a cultural landscape shaped by centuries of fishing, agriculture, and defensive architecture along the Adriatic. Despite its modest size, Punta dell'Acquabella carries a layered identity: a coastal habitat reserve, a fragment of the Trabocchi coast, and a place where medieval towers, abandoned fishing hamlets, and World War II memory converge within a single small stretch of shoreline.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
