Woraksan National Park

Woraksan National Park is a protected mountain landscape spanning the boundary between Chungcheongbuk-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do provinces in central-eastern South Korea. Established on 31 December 1984 as the nation's 17th national park, the park centers on the 1,094-metre peak of Mount Worak, a prominent granite and metamorphic mountain forming part of the Baekdu Mountain range watershed system. The park encompasses approximately 287.78 square kilometres of largely forested terrain characterized by steep ridgelines, deep valleys, and clear mountain streams. It serves as a critical conservation area within South Korea's protected area network, preserving significant biodiversity across multiple taxonomic groups including over 1,200 plant species and numerous vertebrate and invertebrate animal species, with 16 species classified as endangered.
