Dharmapur National Park

Dharmapur National Park is a protected forest area located in the Dharmapur Union of Biral Upazila in Dinajpur District, northern Bangladesh, approximately 8 kilometers west of Dinajpur City. Established on 24 November 2021, the park covers an area of 704.70 hectares across 21 revenue villages and represents one of the most significant forest reserves in northern Bangladesh. The park is centered around dense Sal forests, a distinctive hardwood species that forms the ecological backbone of the area, alongside a diverse assemblage of other tree species, wetlands, and river systems including the Bijra River and a 10-kilometer stretch of the Nona River. The protected area serves as a critical habitat for more than fifty species of birds and numerous mammals, though it has faced significant pressure from historical habitat loss and human encroachment.
