Western Australia's remnant eucalypt woodland sanctuary protecting critical threatened species

Dryandra Woodland National Park

Dryandra Woodland National Park is a distinctive protected area in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, situated approximately 164 kilometres south-east of Perth. The park encompasses a complex of 17 distinct woodland blocks spread over roughly 50 kilometres, representing one of the state's most significant conservation areas. These remnants of open eucalypt woodland once covered much of the Wheatbelt before extensive land clearing began in the 1890s. The woodland sits at the transitional boundary between the moister jarrah forests to the south and the semi-arid wheatbelt to the east, creating a unique ecological setting that supports remarkable biodiversity. Although the area has been impacted by historical logging operations, particularly of brown mallet trees for the tanning industry, intensive conservation efforts including feral predator control have enabled populations of several critically endangered marsupials to recover.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
