Ifrane National Park

Ifrane National Park is a protected area situated in the Middle Atlas mountain range of Morocco, spanning portions of Ifrane and Boulmane provinces. Established in October 2004 after initial conception in 1994, the park encompasses approximately 125,000 hectares of montane forest, wetlands, and alpine terrain at elevations between 1,300 and 2,400 meters. The park represents one of Morocco's most significant conservation landscapes, harboring exceptional biodiversity including one-tenth of the world's Atlas cedar population and roughly one-quarter of the global Barbary macaque population, an endangered primate species with a severely restricted modern range in North Africa. The park also contains two Ramsar-designated wetland sites, Afennourir and Tifounassine lakes, further extending its ecological importance. Beyond its biological significance, Ifrane National Park encompasses the historic site of the former Toumliline monastery, adding cultural dimension to its natural heritage.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
