Tazekka National Park

Tazekka National Park is a protected mountain landscape in the Middle Atlas range of northern Morocco, situated near the city of Taza. The park encompasses approximately 120 square kilometers of ecologically diverse terrain centered on Jbel Tazekka, a prominent peak rising to 1,980 meters above sea level. Originally established in 1950 as a small 6.8-square-kilometer reserve to protect the unique Atlas cedar grove on this isolated mountain, the park was significantly expanded in 1989 to include additional forests, canyon systems, and rural landscapes. The park's significance stems from its position as a biodiversity refuge in a region where similar habitats have been largely degraded, protecting one of the northernmost occurrences of Atlas cedar and hosting a mix of Mediterranean and African wildlife species.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
