Zalissia National Nature Park

Zalissia National Nature Park is a protected area in northern Ukraine, located on the left bank of the Desna River approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Kyiv. The park covers a substantial forest landscape spanning roughly 14,836 hectares across Brovary Raion of Kyiv Oblast and portions of Chernihiv Oblast. Established by presidential decree in 2009, the park was created to preserve, restore, and sustainably use typical and unique natural complexes that hold significant conservation, scientific, aesthetic, recreational, and health value. The park sits within the Central European mixed forests ecoregion, representing a temperate hardwood forest ecosystem characteristic of northeastern Europe. While designated as a national park, the territory has operated primarily under state administration for official purposes, with the formal transition to full national park status not yet completed as of the late 2010s.
