Cascada de Texolo

Cascada de Texolo is a waterfall in eastern Mexico, set in the lush woodlands of the state of Veracruz. It lies about three kilometres south of the town of Xico and roughly nineteen kilometres from the city of Xalapa, tucked into a forested gorge where the main drop is framed by dense vegetation. The site is recognized internationally as a Ramsar Wetland, designated under the name "Cascadas de Texolo y su entorno" in recognition of the ecological value of the waterfall and the surrounding forest and stream system. Beyond its conservation designation, Texolo is known for its visual drama: a principal falls of around eighteen to twenty-four metres, a bridge crossing the gorge, and two smaller cascades visible from nearby footpaths. The waterfall and its settings have also gained international recognition through cinema, having served as a filming location for Hollywood productions. The combination of cloud forest ambiance, accessible trails, and cultural visibility has made Texolo one of the more recognizable natural landmarks in the Veracruz highlands.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
