Koygorodskiy National Park

Koygorodskiy National Park is a protected natural area in the southern part of the Republic of Komi in Russia, established in December 2019 to conserve the region's biological diversity. The park spans large tracts of taiga and mixed forest across the Koygorodsky and Priluzsky administrative districts, covering roughly 56,700 hectares of boreal landscape. Its establishment reflects a relatively recent effort to formalize protection for one of the more ecologically diverse southern corners of Komi, where the taiga meets transitional forest zones. The park is notable for its significant botanical richness, with several hundred recorded vascular plant species including rare and endangered taxa from both the Russian Red Book and the Komi Republic Red Book. Its fauna combines typical taiga mammals, forest birds, river fish, and a wide array of insects, with many animal species also recognized as protected or threatened at federal or regional level. Although still a young protected area, Koygorodskiy represents an important conservation contribution to the southern Komi Republic, adding ecological security to a forested region that sits between more developed southern Russia and the vast northern taiga of the broader Komi wilderness.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
