Sloboda National Nature Park

Sloboda National Nature Park is a protected area in eastern Ukraine established in 2009, located in the Bohodukhiv Raion of Kharkiv Oblast. The park occupies a forest-steppe landscape at the confluence of the Merla and Merchik Rivers within the East Poltava Highlands region. It encompasses an extensive network of marshes, swamps, and wetlands that form a distinctive ecological character for the area. More than 90 percent of the park's territory is covered by forest, with natural maple-lime forests on the right bank of the Merla River and pine plantations on the left bank. The bog-forest communities are primarily composed of alder and birch. The park is designated under IUCN Category II as a national park and is managed by Ukraine's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. It serves as a conservation area for the region's biodiversity while also providing ecological education and nature-based recreational opportunities for visitors.
