Valmiki National Park

Valmiki National Park is the sole national park in the Indian state of Bihar, situated in the West Champaran District near the border with Nepal. Covering approximately 898 square kilometers, the park occupies a ecologically significant position at the interface between the Himalayan foothills and the Gangetic plains. The protected area was established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1978 and was designated a national park in 1990, later becoming the 18th tiger reserve of India.
