Ao Phang Nga National Park

Ao Phang Nga National Park is a predominantly maritime protected area located in Phang Nga Province of southern Thailand, encompassing sections of Mueang Phang Nga District and Takua Thung District. The park covers approximately 400 square kilometers of marine and coastal environment along the Strait of Malacca, featuring one of Thailand's most distinctive geological landscapes characterized by numerous limestone tower karst islands rising steeply from the water. The park was established by royal decree on April 29, 1981, and additionally holds Ramsar Wetland designation since August 2002, recognizing its exceptional ecological significance. Beyond its dramatic karst scenery, the park protects the largest remaining expanse of native mangrove forest in Thailand, making it a critical area for coastal ecosystem preservation and marine biodiversity in the region.
