Dinosaur Fossils National Park

Dinosaur Fossils National Park is a protected fossil site located in the Narmada Valley of Madhya Pradesh, India, near the town of Bagh in Dhar district. Established in 2011, the park conserves Late Cretaceous-era fossil deposits dating between 100 and 66 million years ago, making it one of the few designated fossil parks in India and a significant paleontological site in Asia. The park preserves dinosaur eggs, skeletal remains of sauropods and abelisaurid theropods, fossilized shark teeth, petrified wood, and marine invertebrate fossils embedded within sedimentary rock formations. Local tribal communities historically venerated the petrified stone eggs as sacred objects, worshipping them as guardian deities for centuries before the site's scientific significance was formally documented. The park is managed by the Department of Tourism, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and has been proposed for UNESCO Global Geopark recognition.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
