Kaeng Tana National Park

Kaeng Tana National Park is a protected area in northeastern Thailand, located in Khong Chiam and Sirindhorn Districts of Ubon Ratchathani Province. The park encompasses approximately 80 square kilometres of highland terrain characterized by plateaux and undulating hills, with the Mun River and Mekong River forming its northern boundary. Established on 13 July 1981 as an IUCN Category II protected area, the park is managed by Thailand's National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department. The landscape features the distinctive Don Tana, an island in the middle of the Mun River, and the Kaeng Tana rapids, the largest on the river. The park protects deciduous forest ecosystems and serves as a refuge for diverse wildlife, including several primate species and abundant fish populations in the river systems. Archaeological significance is evidenced by stone inscriptions from the 7th-8th century found within the park boundaries.
