Khao Yai National Park

Khao Yai National Park is Thailand's first established national park and one of the most significant protected areas in Southeast Asia. Located in the Dong Phaya Yen Mountains of central Thailand, spanning Nakhon Ratchasima Province, the park covers approximately 2,166 square kilometers, making it the third largest national park in Thailand. The landscape is dominated by dense evergreen and semi-evergreen forests, with Khao Rom as the highest peak reaching 1,351 meters above sea level. Established in 1962 through royal proclamation, the park played a pioneering role in Thailand's conservation movement and continues to serve as a critical refuge for the country's biodiversity.
