Wakhan National Park is a vast protected area in northeastern Afghanistan, established in 2014 and encompassing the entire Wakhan District of Badakhshan Province. The park spans approximately 10,910 square kilometers along the historic Wakhan Corridor, a narrow strip of land sandwiched between the Pamir Mountains to the north and the Hindu Kush to the south. This extraordinary landscape borders Tajikistan to the west, Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan regions to the south, and China's Xinjiang autonomous region to the east, making it a tri-border wilderness of remarkable strategic and ecological significance.
